Reading in the Ancient Classroom

Thursday, March 6 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm EST

Brayden Hirsch, Department of Classical Studies, Boston University

What was it like to learn to read in antiquity? How did students experience the texts we call “classics” today?  In this talk we will get a glimpse into the ancient classroom, with an overview of the varieties of surviving evidence (literary accounts, papyri, ostraca, writing tablets, written colloquia) and examples of each.
